HouseMate works only if profiles, listings and conversations are trustworthy. These guidelines supplement the Terms & Conditions and explain what we expect from users.
1. True and current information
- Use a name, photo and details consistent with your identity.
- Do not impersonate another person, owner, agency or roommate.
- Update budget, availability, preferences and listing details when they change.
2. Accurate listings
- Publish only real and available rooms or properties, or clearly indicate future availability.
- Do not use unauthorized photos, misleading images or descriptions that hide relevant information.
- Do not misrepresent prices, deposits, bills, availability or addresses.
- Do not publish discriminatory listings or listings that breach housing and rental rules.
3. Respectful interactions
- No harassment, threats, insults, pressure, stalking, blackmail or unwanted sexual content.
- No discrimination based on origin, gender, orientation, religion, disability, age, family status or other protected characteristics.
- Do not share third-party personal data, photos, chats or information without authorization.
4. Safety and payments
- Always verify identity, contract, availability and terms before sending documents or money.
- Be careful with suspicious urgency, untraceable payment requests, strange external links or listings that look too good to be true.
- HouseMate is not a party to agreements between users and does not guarantee payments, deposits, visits or completion of an agreement.
5. Prohibited content
Content or behavior is not allowed if it includes:
- scams, phishing, spam, malware or fraudulent schemes;
- illegal, violent, threatening, defamatory or abusive content;
- infringement of copyright, trademarks, privacy or image rights;
- requests or offers prohibited by law;
- unauthorized automation, scraping or attempts to access systems unlawfully.
6. Reporting
If you see a fake listing, abusive behavior, a scam or illegal content, report it in-app where available or contact info@housemateapp.it. Include links, screenshots, profile name, listing or conversation involved and a clear description of the issue.
7. What HouseMate may do
HouseMate may remove content, limit features, suspend accounts, archive listings, prevent new messages or take other proportionate measures to protect users and the service. Reports may be retained and reviewed as described in the Privacy Policy.
