These Terms & Conditions govern access to and use of HouseMate, including the website, app, profiles, discovery, matching, listings, chat, groups and related features. By using HouseMate, you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
1. Draft status and contact
This is a pre-launch draft. The complete operator/controller details will be added before the service is opened to the public. For support, legal notices or safety reports, contact info@housemateapp.it.
2. The HouseMate service
HouseMate helps people looking for rooms, roommates or shared-living opportunities discover profiles and listings, express interest, start conversations and organize contacts. HouseMate may also allow owners, managers or authorized users to publish listings for rooms or properties.
HouseMate is not a real estate agency, is not a party to rental contracts or agreements between users, does not currently collect rent or deposits through the described features, and does not guarantee identity, solvency, compatibility, listing availability or completion of agreements between users.
3. Age and registration
- You must be at least 18 years old to use HouseMate.
- You must provide accurate, current and non-misleading information.
- If you use social login, you confirm that you are entitled to use that account.
- If you publish listings on behalf of someone else, you must be authorized to do so.
- If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, you must notify us promptly.
4. Profile, matching and discovery
HouseMate uses information you provide to show more relevant profiles, listings and recommendations. Scores, recommendations, distances and result order are support tools and may be incomplete, approximate or based on user-provided data.
You are responsible for decisions you make based on information displayed in the app. Before visiting a property, sending documents, paying money or entering into commitments, always verify identity, conditions, availability, authority to offer the property and documentation.
5. Listings and housing content
Anyone creating a listing represents and warrants that:
- they have the right or authorization to publish the listing;
- price, availability, location, photos, amenities and conditions are accurate and up to date;
- uploaded photos are owned, authorized or otherwise lawfully usable;
- the listing does not contain false, discriminatory, offensive, illegal or misleading information;
- the listing complies with applicable rental, housing, safety, tax and non-discrimination rules.
HouseMate may remove, suspend or limit listings that are incomplete, suspicious, abusive, illegal or contrary to these Terms.
6. Chat, groups and communications
Chat features allow users to ask questions, arrange visits, evaluate compatibility and manage inquiries. Do not use chats or groups for harassment, spam, scams, discrimination, illegal content, suspicious payment requests or unauthorized sharing of third-party personal data.
HouseMate may retain conversations and reports as described in the Privacy Policy and may intervene for safety, moderation, abuse prevention or legal protection.
7. Conduct rules
You must not:
- create fake accounts, impersonate others or intentionally provide false data;
- publish non-existent, fraudulent or unauthorized listings;
- request advance payments in misleading or unsafe ways;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse other users;
- publish third-party personal data without a lawful basis;
- upload content that infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights;
- use bots, scraping, reverse engineering or unauthorized access;
- bypass security, moderation or service limitations.
8. Reports, moderation and account measures
You may report content, listings, users or suspicious behavior by contacting info@housemateapp.it or by using in-app reporting tools where available. Reports should identify the content or behavior, the reason and useful details.
In case of violations or risks to users, safety or service integrity, HouseMate may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, delete listings, block access or take other proportionate measures. Where appropriate and possible, we may inform the affected user and allow clarifications.
9. User content and license
You retain ownership of content you upload or send, such as text, photos, listings, profile images and messages. You grant HouseMate a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, reproduce, technically adapt, display and distribute that content as necessary to provide, protect and improve the service.
10. Intellectual property
HouseMate trademarks, logo, interface, software, design, non-user-generated text and other elements belong to their respective owners. You may not copy, modify, resell or use them without authorization.
11. Service availability
HouseMate may be changed, suspended, interrupted or temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, technical issues, security, operational decisions or events beyond reasonable control. We do not guarantee continuous availability or error-free operation.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, HouseMate is not liable for user-provided information, outcome of negotiations, failure to enter into contracts, third-party conduct, property quality or availability, roommate compatibility, indirect damages or losses resulting from misuse of the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Leaving the service and account deletion
You may stop using HouseMate at any time. The app includes logout and account deletion features. Deletion and its effects on data are described in the Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, operational needs or legal requirements. For material changes, we may notify you in-app, by email or request renewed acceptance.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
Unless mandatory consumer protection rules apply otherwise, these Terms are governed by Italian law. The competent court will be determined under applicable law, including mandatory consumer protections.
